Ever since childhood, I have imagined the perfect metaverse. Early on, I used paint and paper to draw a self-portrait to portray my unique perspective towards dimension and metaverse. However, the paper(2D) was not a perfect medium to deliver my message.

My passion for having my own metaverse-studio has guided my works since my undergraduate years at the Parsons School of Design. I used a combination of design thinking and emerging technology to portray my unique perspective of art. For my undergraduate thesis, I developed two experimental typefaces, Virtual Character Recognition A and B (VCR-A/B), as a nod to Adrian Frutiger's OCR-A/OCR-B typefaces. It was a typeface catering for virtual environments. My goal was to utilize technology to create new creative tools for the metaverse and ultimately reshape humanity's future and art.

Remembrance of my creative dream and goal of a past (10 years ago), I am trying to re-create this self-portrait using emerging technology(AR/VR) to suggest museums and humanity the artistic potential of immersive technology.

I recently found out from my old paintings that I loved to create extra dimension to artwork. As a new-media artist, I am still looking for a perfect medium to portray my passion towards dimension. I still need backup research to this statement, but I would like to call my art a “4D ART.” (since I am trying to add an extra dimension to 3D art.)
